We are pleased to announce that the Downtown Hart Farmers markets has been certified to accept food benefits SNAP and Double Up Food Bucks, WIC and Senior Market FRESH. This has been made possible thanks to the work of AmeriCorps VISTA member Rachel Kindinger, and with the help of the HFOC committee of District #10 Health Department, MIFMA, and facilitated with a grant provided by the Community Foundation for Oceana County.
We look forward to providing locally grown, fresh healthy food choices to the residents and visitors in the area every other Thursday afternoon beginning June 7. This program and event is a win-win-win, with local farmers benefiting with a market for them have strong sales of their products, the availability of healthy choices for the community, and for downtown to see increased activity and foot traffic.
We would like to extend out thanks to the Community Foundation for Oceana County for the grant to purchase the signage and tokens to implement the food benefits programs.
